Time to pamper myself! And off I go for a facial treatment at Clarins Skin Spa

I had made an almost total switch to Clarins for my skincare products about three months ago and they had worked pretty well for me thus far. Hence, it is natural that I turn to them for facial treatment as well, just so as to get the most out of their products and experience their infamous Clarins touch, which comprises of the therapists’ hand techniques to stimulate, massage, lift and drain.

Yes, you will not be able to see any machinery in the treatment room – zero extraction, sans steaming of the face – the only items in the room which needs to be plug on are the hair-dryer placed in the vanity cupboard for customer’s use and the warmer bed – the latter is enough for me to feel luxurious!

Upon entering the waiting area behind the reception, I was welcomed by a soothing ambience – wooden flooring, several comfy sofas (I reckon these are more for those men who are waiting for their partners), dim lights as well as the signature scent of Clarins product – I felt like I’m in an aromatherapy session already!

My therapist, Rebecca, came to greet me readily and after giving her some basic information on my health condition and skincare/beauty routine, I was led into the treatment room named Sequoia. The treatment room is brightly lit at this moment, and by then I was already mesmerized by the scent of the treatment oil. Anyway, I was told to remove my tops and change into a white tube-top provided. I like the fact that I get to change into something else for the treatment, as I felt more comfortable not wearing my own clothings for the session. The cupboard holds several hangers for your clothings, a hairdryer, a jewellery pot, a Clarins body deodorant (which smells heavenly) and a plastic bottle containing lots of mentos sweets.
Provided for use and there's also a drawer below containing jewellery pot, comb etc
After changing into the tube-top, I popped onto the bed and began to enjoy the warmth it brought me. The mattress was comfortable; the quilt was soft and the environment conducive for a good sleep. Soon, Rebecca came in and the treatment started.

She kick-started the treatment with a skin analysis of my face, by pressing gently all over my face and had a check on my hands as well. Then, she told me she will be doing a Moisture Replenisher treatment on me as my skin is fairly dehydrated. I was also told that she will be instructing me to breathe in or out at times during the treatment, so that I will be able to breathe in the aroma at the right time and be able to feel totally relaxed.

Instead of starting the treatment on my face, she worked on my body first, firstly by gently shaking my legs and body, then gave some gentle presses on my hands and neck. All these I reckon are to help my body to relax first, before going into the main treatment. Then at times I was told to breathe in and when I did that, a soothing scent went into my nose and I felt really relaxed. The pressure of her presses on my neck and shoulders felt just right, not too strong nor too light. It was really sleep inducing but I tried to stay awake as I need to make these mental notes in order to write this post. But I admit it was quite hard for me to remember exactly the process simply because I was so tempted to drift away often during the treatment.

Before she moved on to my face treatment, she applied some oil on both my hands and have them covered under the quilt. She followed with a thorough cleansing to remove any makeup on my face, and I could make out that she was using Clarins Cleansing Milk. However, the pressure she used while spreading the product around was so light, I bet it must be at least five times lighter than what I usually did to my face. Warm towels/wipes were used all the time to remove the product and the temperature were just right. I could not make out the exact products that she used on me after that, but she used a peeling lotion on me, one which made me feel a tingling sensation on my face. Next will be a refining and moisturizing mask, and it felt like a thick liquid on me. While she placed the lotion and mask on me, she dimmed the lights and only a tiny light was on at a corner of the room.

Meanwhile, she continued to help my body to relax, by giving my neck and shoulders a good rub, and continues to moisturize my hands with oils and hand cream. She ended the treatment by applying moisturizer on my face and lip balm on my lips. She passed me a small mirror to show me how my face looked now and also applied a thin layer of translucent powder on my face. She did not switch on the lights immediately, but instead told me she will be waiting for me at the waiting area and told me to take my time.

I regretted not taking a picture of how my face looked like after the facial, but I must say that my face really glows after that! It was actually quite amazing, my spider veins were all gone and my face actually looks a shade lighter. Rebecca told me that it must be because all the dead skin on my face has been washed off and this is exactly how my real skin looks like. There wasn’t any redness or fine lines, just glow and radiance. I can’t stop praising and boosting how amazing this whole treatment is.  I left the spa without any makeup on, and even if I didn’t fill in my brows, overall it still looks fine.

About a week has passed and my skin still feels smooth and problem-free. The redness around my nose was not as visible and makeup applies smoothly. The pimple mark I had below my lips is about to fade soon, and raised bumps were lesser. I am really critical about picking a place for a facial treatment but this experience I had at Clarins Skin Spa is really an outstanding one.

I actually preferred the machine-less facial treatment, and the benefits of using light massage techniques to improve my skin condition. I can agree with that methodology and am introducing these into my daily skincare routines. Although it takes longer for me to complete the routine (it seriously does not take a very long time as well), I am liking it as I am seeing a difference now.

Overall, I really like this facial treatment from Clarins Skin Spa and are tempted to try out their body treatments as well. However, those with sensitive skin might want to be sure that their skin is able to take Clarins products, before they go ahead with the facial treatments. I do know of people who simply detest the scents from Clarins products, let alone using them!

Have you tried any facial/body treatments from Clarins Skin Spa? Do you like their machine-less facial treatments or do you prefer those with extractions or steaming facials?

    1. Hi hui!
The only thing about Clarins is its scent; once you can get past it and in fact love it, everything will be fine! They are using the scent as a form of aromatherapy for the facial treatment as well. Which moisturizer are you using? Is the sunscreen a tinted version? I wrote about it before! I like that one too. :)
